Savanna Rae

Creator, Writer and Performer

Savanna Rae is a Chicago based actor and playwright. Savanna began working on Daughters of Ire her freshman year of college as a combination of her three areas of study: Theatre, Literature, and Gender & Women’s Studies. After over a year of workshopping, Daughters premiered in 2015 through Other Theatre. Daughters of Ire was nominated for Best New Work of 2015 (Broadway World Chicago) and has since continuously toured. Savanna is an Artistic Associate of Oak Park Festival Theatre where she has been seen in as Mira in Russian Transport and Maggie in Lovers (staged readings), as well as Love Spats (Phoebe, Helena), Macbeth (Second Witch), Richard III (Jane Shore) and Fair Maid of the West (U/S Bess Bridges). Other Chicago credits include Julius Caesar (Chicago Shakespeare Theater), Dating and Dragons (The Factory Theater), and Bianca Minola in Shrewish (Artemisia Theatre). Savanna is a proud member of Other Theatre and is represented by Shirley Hamilton Talent.

Carin Silkaitis is absolutely thrilled to continue collaborating with Savanna Rae on DAUGHTERS OF IRE. This play fulfills her as an artist, an activist, and a feminist. She is proud of the work they have done, and she is looking forward to continued conversation with new audiences. Carin is the Founding Artistic Director of Other Theatre Chicago where her credits include I DO TODAY, THE REALM and OTHER LETTERS (actor), and OTHERS: A 24 Hour Play Festival, DAUGHTERS OF IRE, BARNEY THE ELF (Director). Carin is a graduate of the School at Steppenwolf, and she received her MFA in acting from the Theatre Conservatory at Roosevelt University.
